Using art to activate office space and express harmony between nature and technology

Chevron Technology Ventures (CTV) identifies and develops technologies that enhance the way Chevron produces and delivers energy. Chevron Launchpad is CTV’s physical space at the ION Houston. They collaborate with technologists, designers, and thinkers to innovate, develop, and launch new technologies. We helped embed their values, culture, and pursuits by creating large-scale murals in their physical space.

The Challenge

Chevron wanted a mural that that would speak to their pursuit in harmonizing nature and technology in the energy industry. In addition, they wanted the final artwork to nod to technology without making the work focused on tech – while showcasing how technology and design is evolving to honor and serve the world.

Emily Ding

Artist & Muralist

Emily is a large-scale muralist based in Houston, TX whose work depicts the essence of the human temperament and emotion through the characterization of wild creatures, figures, flora, and fauna.

“Ideas are like birds flitting in and out of our minds, which soar to new heights when we release and actualize them.”

During the official mural unveiling at Chevron LaunchPad, Emily shared her thoughts behind the mural. “The vibrancy of our individual imaginations is impressive, but when we come together as a community our creativity and capabilities are boundless. Much like a bird's nest, Chevron Technology Ventures is a space where new ideas are nurtured and developed in collaboration.

Ideas grow, take flight, and inspire, joining the world through relationships and collective efforts.

This piece symbolizes a pursuit to synchronize human life and nature. Together, we can empower each other to develop new ways of integrating into our natural world both responsibly and compassionately - to progress humankind and technology while honoring all walks of life.”
